Durham Action on Single Homelessness, Durham

Durham Action on Single Homeless began life in 1972 and has served County Durham ever since. DASH was an integral partner in the setting up of a community led housing support Hub for the south of the Tyne  which then merged with Communities CAN to provide community housing support across the North East. DASH sat on the Steering Group and used their vast expertise to help draw down Homes England funding for this region. Not only did DASH play a critical role in the development of the Hub but it also had its own pipeline project, Hudson House, to develop.

DASH is a well-respected and established organisation (and their trading arm Keiper Homes) which has been very supportive to less experienced community led housing projects. It recently became a Registered Provider as it wanted to secure the future sustainability of the charity and its ability to provide affordable and quality housing to meet community needs. It has readily shared the lessons it has learned during this process, despite having to deal with Covid and Brexit.

DASH continues to grow as an organisation and to buy and lease properties to house people in housing need, including people with mental health issues.
